Welcome!

Ashland ACE Hardware prides itself on being one the few remaining traditional hardware stores.  But what does that mean today?

To Our Customers, it means exceptional service.

  • Knowledgeable, friendly staff who remember your name and the products you trust
  • Shelves stocked with the quality brands that will get your job done right
  • Special orders from the 80,000 items in our warehouse
  • Competitive prices, so you can avoid the hassles of a Big Box

We even help you load your car, and keep the popcorn fresh on Saturdays.  And we still offer the same services you’d find in a hardware store 50 years ago — glass cutting, screen and window repair, lawn mower repair, lamp rewiring, custom paint matching, key cutting and lock rekeying.

Rodents and Gas

Mice with intestinal issues? No….

Interesting conversation with our Technicians this month, they want you to be attentive to damage from poor quality fuel and nesting mice.

Gasoline and power tools:

  • Use stabilizer in the fuel that you buy.
  • Ethanol and poor quality gasoline equal gummed up carburetors.
  • Don’t buy more fuel than you will use in one month. Fuel stored for longer will break down and damage your engine.
  • Don’t store fuel in direct sunlight. It will expand in the heat and blow the cap off your tank.

Rodents, really?!

  • If you store your mower in a barn or shed, you’re at higher risk of damage “under the hood” from nesting mice.
  • Look for grass, leaves, debris, piles of insulation hanging out of the cowling showing they’ve set up housekeeping.
  • The cowling needs to be removed and the nest cleared out.
  • Look carefully for damage to wiring.
  • Call us at 798-ACE1 (2231), if you’d rather have us get rid of your furry guests.

Read your Operator’s Manual. Be Safe, Be Careful.

Looks like 2011 could be a busy year for hurricanes. Experts predict from 14 to 17 named storms this year.

At the old store location, we stayed open even without electricity so you could get what you need. We’ll be here for you again in 2011.

Here are some things you can do to be ready:

  • Does your generator start? Go out this weekend and check to be sure your backup is ready to go. Fresh fuel? Turns over smartly? If not, call us for a service appointment.
  • Do you have a supply of bottled water, canned goods as well as a backup to your electric stove? We carry both camp stove and propane grill fuel cylinders.
  • Do you have oil lamps, flashlight batteries and a battery-powered radio?
  • Is your chainsaw sharp and ready to go?
  • Do you have pet supplies to last through a black out?

Do you have the products you need to protect your family and garden?

The best way to protect you and your pets from mosquito bites and tick borne disease is regular use of insect repellent when out of doors. We carry a range of products from 90% DEET or DEET-free sprays and Citronella candles. Apply early and often.

It’s not too late to set out Japanese Beetle traps and reduce the damage done to your shrubs and trees. Put these lure traps away from the area you want to protect. The beetles will be drawn to a less vulnerable area of your landscape.

You’ll also want to keep an eye out for predators in your vegetable garden. Remember that many beneficial insects are preying on the ones that eat your vegetables. Choose insecticides that target the “bad bugs” and leave the “good bugs” to help you another day. We carry Safer Insecticidal Soaps, Ortho and Bonide sprays, and old standbys like Sevin dust.
