Growing Grass in Central VA

We live in the “Transition Zone” of the United States. Was that news to you too? It’s about a 100 mile wide area between the Northern and Southern temperate zones of the eastern and mid-western states.

During the extensive education on growing grass that Robert gave me the other day, I learned that “transition zone” = it’s difficult to grow grass around here.

You CAN grow grass, it just takes special effort. There are grasses that grow well in the cool, northern climates (turf-type) and grasses that thrive in hot southern climates (zoysia, bermuda, and St. Augustine).

Luckily, Robert has created a custom blend of turf-type fescue seed made specifically for this area. Wetzel seed company custom blends 5, 10, 25, and 50 pound bags of this seed just for Ashland ACE Hardware. It’s a blend of several turf-type grasses that tend to grow well in the transition zone. By the way, it sells forpretty much the same price as any other good quality seed.

We’ll even load it for you.
